We are honored to celebrate Beatriz, a true "Hometown Hero" who has dedicated nearly three decades to serving our community. Originally from Mexico City, Beatriz moved to Corpus Christi in 1968, where she quickly mastered a new language and began a lifelong career in social services. For 28 years, she has served as the heart and soul of our local food bank, earning her the affectionate title of "the food bank lady". Her leadership has been defined by the motto of "service above self," characterized by her integrity and exceptional ability to listen to those in need. Beatriz’s unwavering faith and perseverance led the Coastal Bend Food Bank through the challenges of the pandemic and the successful launch of a massive new facility.

Alongside her husband and best volunteer, Dick Hanson, she has touched countless lives with her humility and warmth. Known for her humor and her "mother to all" character, she remains deeply humble about her significant impact.
